Retro Time!

If anyone knows me, they know that I love dress patterns of the 1940's and 1950's.  Even though they are considered retro, have you ever notice that they never really go out of style? It's something about the unique flare and attention to detail that allows the wearer to appear sophisticated and well dressed.

Sitting in Joann's looking through Butterick's 'Early Spring Collection' I came across this pretty retro pattern:

Butterick 6018

The first thing that caught my eye were the shaped cuffs, they give a very feminine and delicate touch to the dress.  Next would be the 7 half dome buttons going down the center of the bodice,  they make for a beautiful decorative feature. To round the appeal off, would be the high waist and flared skirt, for that oh so flattering silhouette.

Needless to say, this pattern would need a special fabric, something that would make the dress come to life.

Searching through Joann's I found:

Joann's Specialty Linen/Rayon Blend

Instantly I thought "That's it!"

To put the cherry on top of my project sundae, I noticed that it was included in the 40% off fabric sale.  Hooray Me!

Now that I have found the right fabric, I need the right shoes to set it off, right?  Well what do you think about these?:

I thought the same thing as you, 'Oh Yeah',  the look is really coming together now.

However, one friend pointed out to me:

"What about the gloves, you have to find gloves to match."

What do you think, should I get gloves to match, and if so what color should they be:

a) White

b) Fuchsia

c) Green (to match the shoes)

Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below :-)
